WHAT IS PAGERANK?
PageRank Algorithm is the algorithm used by Google to find out the answer from the Google Database related to your Search and according to popularity of page. Pages with high PR displayed first than pages with low PR (e.g PR 9 is greater than PR 7). PageRank counted from 0-10.
HOW PAGE RANK WORKS?
It was really difficult task to manage thousand of pages in Google. The solution of this problem was developed as PAGERANK ALGORITHM. Pagerank works by counting the number and quality of links to a page to determine the rough estimate of how important the website is.
Google uses the Automated crawler GOOGLEBOT to gather all the information about the pages.
PAGERANK ALGORITHM
The original PageRank algorithm was given by Larry Page and Sergey Bin (Founders of Google).
PR(A) = (1-d) + d (PR(T1)/C(T1) + ... + PR(Tn)/C(Tn))
where,
PR(A) is the PageRank of page A,
PR(Ti) is the PageRank of pages Ti which link to page A,
C(Ti) is the number of outbound links on page Ti and
d is a damping factor which can be set between 0 and 1.
Larry Page and Sergey Bin has published another version of this PR Algorithm. in seconed version Page Rank of page A is given by:
PR(A) = (1-d) / N + d (PR(T1)/C(T1) + ... + PR(Tn)/C(Tn))
where,
N is total number of all pages on the web.
